Using 10 & Under Power, TVSC Won the 2023-2024 Season Suffolk County Championship

Peter Smit

Concluding an almost 8 month long short-course season 120 TVSC swimmers ages 7 to 18 raced 673 times and still swam 385 best times -- 57%. Total time improvement 567 seconds, or more than 9 minutes. New time standards: 2 'AAAA' times, 8 'AAA' times, 34 'AA' times, 16 'A' times, 29 'BB' times, and 5 'B' times. New qualification times: 2 NCSA cuts, 4 Sectional cuts, and 6 Senior Mets cuts.

Counties is the favorite meet of the season for the veteran TVSC swim families.  Swim families attending this meet for the first time saw our youngest swimmers race together with the top Suffolk County swimmers who compete at the Sectional, Jr National and Sr National levels.  They saw all the how the graduating seniors get recognized before the start of Sunday's finals, most continueing their swimmers careers in college in September.

When qualifying the goal is to drop a little mlore time in finals and many first timers did - congratulations, but some did not.  They were too nervous competing against faster swimners.  The only way to learn to swim faster in finals is by competeing in more  prelims / finals meets and learn to ignore what you cannot control (like racing against faster swimmers).
